* Notes

4K playback (Android TV, Raspberry Pi, Fire TV, Android tablet / phone): Depends on the hardware limits of each device model.

Documents (Android TV, TCL Commercial, Android tablet / phone): Works out of the box on Android 11 and later. On Android 7 to 10 it depends on the device's Android System WebView.

Starts automatically on boot (Android TV, Fire TV): Needs a one-time "Display over other apps" permission, set once with ADB on TV devices. Our setup guide walks through it.

Remote screen on/off (Amazon Signage): Amazon Signage Stick: works through HDMI-CEC, so the screen must support it. The Amazon Signage Display has its screen built in.

Rotation (Android TV): Video rotation may not work on some Android TV devices because of OS limits.

Automatic app updates (Android TV, Fire TV, Android tablet / phone): The app detects a new version and opens Google Play or the Amazon Appstore. Fully automatic updates follow the store's auto-update setting.

Windows runs the LOOP Web Player in Chrome; there is no separate Windows app. Videos and Audio (Windows / Web Player): browsers only autoplay muted video; the Chrome kiosk shortcut with the autoplay flag lets video play with sound. Device health monitoring (Windows / Web Player): a browser shares less device information than an installed app.

Find the right media player

You have a Samsung, LG or TCL commercial display

Use the built-in app

Install LOOP on the display itself. No extra box or cables, and you can turn the screen on and off remotely.

Add a stick or player

An Amazon Signage Stick, Android box, Fire TV Stick or Raspberry Pi turns any HDMI screen into a managed display.

Go all-in-one

Choose a signage display with the player built in: the Amazon Signage Display (55" 4K), or a Samsung or LG signage display running LOOP natively. Nothing extra to plug in.

Choosing a digital signage display

Screen plus player. Any HDMI TV or commercial display becomes a digital signage screen once a player is connected: an Android box, a Raspberry Pi, a Fire TV Stick or an Amazon Signage Stick.

Smart display with a built-in app. Samsung Tizen, LG webOS and TCL commercial displays can run LOOP directly, with no extra hardware.

All-in-one signage display. The Amazon Signage Display combines a 55" 4K screen and a media player in one device.

Consumer TV or commercial display. A consumer TV is fine as a digital signage TV for a few hours a day in a shop or office. For screens that run all day, face a window or sit in a busy public space, choose a commercial display: it is built for long operating hours, is brighter and usually has a longer business warranty.

Size, brightness and hours. Pick the size from viewing distance, the brightness from the light in the room, and the panel grade from how many hours a day it will run. Then match the player to the screen with the cards above. LOOP pricing is per screen, whichever player you choose.

FAQ

Digital signage player FAQ

What is a digital signage player?

A digital signage player is the device or app that shows your content on a screen. It downloads playlists from LOOP, plays them on schedule and keeps playing from its cache if the connection drops. It can be a media player such as a Raspberry Pi or Amazon Signage Stick, an app on a smart display, or a web browser. LOOP runs on all of them. See all compatible players

What screens are used for digital signage?

Almost any screen with an HDMI input can be a digital signage screen once a player is connected. Consumer TVs suit short daily hours; commercial displays suit long hours and bright spaces. Samsung, LG and TCL smart signage displays run LOOP with no player, and the Amazon Signage Display is an all-in-one screen. Choose by viewing distance, brightness and daily hours. Amazon Signage Display

Do I need a media player for digital signage?

Not always. Samsung, LG and TCL commercial displays and Android TVs run LOOP directly. Other screens need a small player connected over HDMI. See which players fit your screen

What is the best media player for digital signage?

It depends on your screen and budget. The Amazon Signage Stick is purpose-built for signage, and in the US it is free with a yearly Standard plan. Raspberry Pi suits technical teams, Android boxes are widely available, and Samsung, LG and TCL displays need no extra hardware. See the Amazon Signage Stick

Can I use a smart TV without a media player?

Yes, if it is a Samsung Tizen, LG webOS or TCL commercial display, or an Android TV. Install the LOOP app on the display and pair it with your account. Other smart TVs need a player such as an Android box or a stick. Compare smart display support

Can I manage multiple screens with one media player?

Usually no: one player drives one screen. An HDMI splitter can mirror the same content to several screens, but you cannot control them separately. With LOOP, give each screen its own player and manage all of them from one dashboard. Synced playback across screens is coming soon. See LOOP pricing per screen
